Don't get back here as much as I would like to. Moved to California for a new job and I have been working on getting it to be able to run on cruise control. All of the broken stuff on my sled is still broken, now that it is snowing I think I will get around to fixing it. Not anything major, but time consuming. I looked into a few of the new sleds this past spring, but couldn't bring myself to make the snow-check commitment. Now I wish that I had, the 800 xp looks great, the Dragon is also sick. I don't know much about arctic cats, but Chris Burrant shure makes a strong argument for having a free-ride team that can make your mtn. sleds do amazing stuff- that kid has the best vision on the hill- finding trannies and riding in three dimensions!
I have been riding these machines for only a few years and I would throw away my gravity powered shred stick if I could find a way to make it happen. There is no feeling like completing a few crucial sidehill switchback turns that help get you up and over to the next valley!
Good luck to you all this winter talk to you again,
JP
Just got back from an unplanned trip to Colorado. I was visiting a couple of my buddies in Casper Wyomin' and they asked if I wanted to tag along. Sure what could it hurt... every bit of my torn up old body is what.
I rode more rails, and jumps than I have in the past ten years- and I was enjoying myself! Don't let the Heli-sluts in Blue river or tractor-breath Kenny know about this little trip... THEY WILL NEVER RIDE WITH ME AGAIN! Sellout park rat. Nothing like a freshcut pipe with a layer of spring corn for gription.
Colorado is good to visit every five years or so. It reminds me of just how much I am missing- and just how well I've got it here. (STILL SNOWING! expect 20cm by the morning -With the wind that will be knee to waist deep in spots!)
We hit Echo Mtn, Copper, and Keystone. Echo is the new all Mtn. Park (or all park Mtn.) just outside of Denver. You can stay up all night, sleep late, and roll up there when you get up. They are on spring operating hours 1pm -9pm until they run out of snow.
Copper Catylist park offers a really long run sprinkled with mini parks on the way to the big stuff. Too windy to hit the biggest booters, we worked on the mid size jumps and the huge number of rails. (we had so much fun we went back for a second day.)
We were going to hit Winter Park, but Burton had the Super-Duper pipe (22') closed for a photo shoot....
We ended up going to keystone to take a look at SuperPark 10. Cool jumps.... knuckle-fest. snow too slow. The park-builders did their stuff that night and when we came back the next day we were treated to a pretty diverse showing of big mute or method spins. Riders for EMO, your girlfriend called and needs her jeans back so she can go to work. We were very pleased with the newest trend, junkyard jibs. Echo has a huge vertical cylinder, Copper had Plastic barrels, and Keystone has so many rails leaned up against the trees it just looks like a junkyard
(Most of the Cool kids were attending MALAYday in Vail- Respect!)
Hope your summer involves thoughts of snow, or a few slush turns.

J-hole closed to public sunday . No more TRAM, hope you all got a chance to ride it one time, what a cool way to get to the top. Still snowing! Teton pass closed this morning during rush hour because of a jack-knifed Semi truck! [DUm].
Sorry if you couldn't make it this winter. Come back in a few years when we open whatever they decide to build. Cross your fingers and hope they don't do something lame like another gondola....
See you all on the sand! time to get some sun!

Trannys where we have never had them. Our mountain is showing us lines we have subconsciously known were there, but have yet to fully explore as they keep disappearing with the next storm. That shape of a big rock or log that raises the hair on the back of your neck when you come around a blind corner, even though it is now so deeply buried that you will never actually hit it. (or will you)-- still too early in the season to entirely trust what you see. 100 inch rule here in the Rockies. Warm storms dumping wet snow that sticks and conforms creating new windlips, cornices to slash, and perfect snow for landing big drops. The opposite of the Utah snow that lets you sink through all four feet of new, a feeling worse than any hardpack landing. Shocking your knees when they are on your cheek, forearm, or biceps.
Great way to start a new year. We are thankful for the good snow and will try not make the mistakes our friends from the north made last year. (The ones that made it rain in a month that should be giving us such a good time. We all know Cnda is rad-A If global warming continues, all you in squampton may be sitting on some pretty nice beach front property, and the sea to sky hwy. Will bring the newest of yuppie scum. Lift serviced extreme golfers- ride to the top and send your ball off the top of old favorites; the Horstman coulior extreme-Par 5

Really cold here in Jackson over the past few days. Great weather if you are a snowmaker. The parks are coming together, and our Zaugg is finally coming! The delivery was delayed due to all the freaky weather in the Atlantic ocean. They put them on a boat and then a train to get to you.
My boy has had some 'warranty issues' and we have had some really good docs looking after him. If I learned anything at summer camp over the years it is that kids are so strong. They find ways to fix themselves, they don't freak out and worry about the prospects of what will come. Where do we learn to freak out when something unsuspected comes our way? Kaio is one in a million, there isn't even a name for his condition, but he doesn't even show a bit of fussyness. Calm, happy and very cool. He is growing and fighting to get back to his 'proper' weight (Driving my wife into the ground by eating every two hours around the clock)
Hope it is snowing where you are or where you are going!
thanks for reading, I'll try to put up more updates more often. I've been inspired reading other blogs- thanks

Summer is over. The leaves are gone. We're not going somewhere hot. Bring on the snow! This is the last year the tram will run in Jackson. If I EVER crashed on your couch, this winter would be the time for payback. Bring it!
