In Whistler it's been snowing steady since mid Oct at the base camp 6500 ft up on the Ice Cap. Our snowcat sits with maybe 10 ft of snow around it waiting for us to come and pry it free of it's wintry bed so it can fire up and do it's job of plowing out the containers holding our equipment and sleds. We are going to try and get up there this weekend either by helicopter or by riding in. The windows of weather that would allow us to fly up there have been so short that it has not been worth it. But with Christmas only a few days away and people stacked up to book trips, we now have to make a serious effort to get up and running. Trevor and I called Geoff Kyle and BJ Murray this morning and they both said they were in. Geoff doesn't have his sled yet (sponsors are fickle) so if we fly he is in and if we try and ride in...no geoff...So we will assemble in Whistler at 700am Sat Dec 16 and decide what the weather will be for the day...make the call and either stop at the heliport for a 15 min trip up to a snowed in basecamp or a who knows how long trip up Rutherford Creek trailhead breaking through the 3+feet of snow that has fallen over the last 2 days. I can hardly sleep with the anxiety of not knowing what we are in for. I'll be back on Monday with an update and photos.
I think I will bring my snowboard along just in case!
