I have been checking them out on the net lately and think they look pretty badass, just wondering if anyone has had any expeirience or some insight to share. I think that polaris is going to have a hit on this one, because after that god-awful rattlin' 900, the cant afford another miss like that!

I guess I really can't say for sure because I havn't rode one yet.

My thought is that Polaris is on a downhill spiral. Is there a market for a 700 anymore??

i dont think there is any more it is just a stepping stone to an 800 and why get a 700 when you could have an 800 with 151 hp ......  i mean you can get an 800 and not use all the power but it is good to have! as for a 900 liberty ummm well i think anything over a 800 is toom uch and just over kill kinda like the shidoo 1000 to much uless you are a die hard hill climber

Guys I have the 02 edge 700 and I love the thing. That mill just seems to go and go. I mean on a long lake my ass gets kicked by my buddy's triple triple 800 polaris but on the trails no chance of that. I thought about getting the dragon but why I can ride all day and never be bored with the 700. So unless it gets crazy good gas milage I can't see it happening. But Polaris needs this one for shure. Just my point of view. In 02 the 700 beat all 800 polaris's I raced with and some triple Yams and a couple 800 doo doo's. Not starting a tiff with any one sled but I really like the polaris 700 that came out in 02. It just seems it is like that old 488 fan cooled engine it is just what it is and it works really well for me. LONG LIVE POLARIS... The only major problem that I have ever had. But what a pain when it does is over heating due to hard packed spring like snow this thing loves the cold and snow that it can get up in the track. I wish it had foot heatting fins on the floor of the tunnal.

the dragon is a kick ass sled its raw n mean looking  .. and for the guy beaking about ski-doos 151hp(no offence).. the 700 cfi from polaris is claimed a 140 but dyno out at 139.4 . its not hard to make 12 hp just a pipe n can .. slp cold air intake kit and some clutching LOOK out ...

the dragon is a decent sled but it isnt an 800. my buddys doo 800 with a 144 climbs, floats,an dis an all around better sled then the dragon 155, my buddies dragon has been having some burbs, the one ride it would run for about 10 minutes then it would die. one time after we got it running it stuck wide open and bounced of a snow covered tree landing on its side we had to tow it off the mntn bc it wouldnt start at all later on, the tps was to blame, the next ride his idle was rough going from200 to 600 rpm, we adjusted his cables but id didnt work, also on that ride his belly pan and side plastics brook, his sled is now sitting in the shop well me and my other buddies r still haulin.
my buddie has pretty much had it with polaris after his 900 blew the crank with a 1000 miles on it and his repaqlcment 700 is always burping

note: to sport440 it takes more then a couple of days to really judge a machine and if it seems good then that's what could be a total crank twister or just simply a monday machine if you get what i'am saying.

as for the entire bigger is better deal, that is not always true, my old pro-x 440 wasted edge x 600s, and my friend rev 600 smoked a zrt 100 out on the lake yesterday. and the dragon rmk 700 just screams up the hills, out did all the summits and mountain cats out west, the only thing that it couln't hang with was the turboed yamahas!

do you meanzrt 800 or 1000 t-cat either way if they got beat by any 6oo i`d be surprised,, those are two of the fastest factory sleds ever built,  i`m 275 lbs and the only sled thats ever stayed with me was another t-cat, my zert 600 has waxed all 3 800 polaris`s ive raced on the lake, and the other riders were50-75 lbs lighter than me, so if he got beat by a 600, its time to learn how to ride!
WHEN IN DOUBT......PIN IT!!!!!!!

Has anybody ridden the new 800 dragon, it has more horse than the ski-doo engine but polaris needs to start working on the weight like doo did...

I always love it when someone says, it's only a 700.
Yep, of cource just a couple years ago, the all mighty 800's only made 140hp.
The 07/08 700 RMK's make just as much HP and torque as the 05 800 RMK.
This sled ROCKS. Very nimble and incredible throttle responce. It is just a fun sled to ride.

Now, you won't get the HP and torque gains you used to just a few years ago. The 05 and prior sleds (non-IQ), you could throw a Pipe, can, intake and reeds at it and gain 10-15 hp. These new sleds are designed so well you just arn't going to get any real gains with a pipe and can anymore. I've seen the dyno sheets, just not worth the cost without a full mod.

Pretty much the only way you will get any performance gains is to go with a full engine mod, big bore, stuff like that.

I put on 1400 miles a year. All in the mountains, mostly the snowies, some rabbit ears and a couple long weekends to togwotee. One thing I have discovered is, you don't need 3 million hp to have fun. I don't climb, I run trees and meadow hop. I am in the perpetual search for untouched powder and I always find it. A few times I have had a few problems getting back out, but I always find the snow.

Demo'd one. Yep, the sled is a blast to ride. I just didn't think the extra 15hp was worth the extra 1500 to buy one.

Doo got the weight reduction by redesigning the entire sled and how it was put together. This is a HUGE gamble. If everything works out the way they hope, that sled will reign king for another 5 years. If they develope problems with reliability or chassis problems because of weakness or stress cracks, Doo could be in HUGE problems. The new Doos haven't even hit the snow yet and there is a critical safetly recall about the fuel tanks cracking and leaking with potential fires.

Both Polaris and Cat are playing it smart. Same thing Doo and Cat did when polaris was on top. You sit back and see what works. Then take that and refine and redesign. It is easy to follow and very hard to lead. One slip and you could be number 2 again.
