if skidoo would seat there manifold bolts in the engine right they might just not fall out and burn up my engine noisey too!! and leave a f*#ken mess when i'am traveling 50 km way from help in -45c weather you try putting the bolts in . It's near impossible with gloves on or off. you can't even get at the bolts that go in the engine in sensable manner or exhaust springs for that matter so at least with polaris the engine is so powerful that the mounts break so when polaris tweak out there little problem good bye frost bittin hands good bye skidoo
I Also know polaris is working on something different
I think it's going to take brp out to lunch next year
u well see!!!

I don't think you will see a 1000 from polaris anytime soon.
It is a VERY small part of the market.
600, 700 is the core market. That is where most of their sales are, that is where they are concentrating their money and research.
The 800 is making 158hp. The 1000's are only making 170. Why spend millions to make a new engine for the extra 12hp. They put out the 800 for the hard core riders and the mountain riders.
After the mess with the 05/06 700/900 big blocks, polaris is going back to what made it king. Good, reliable sleds that you can get for less than the other makers. They got a little big for their britches and tried to ride their reputation. It cost them big time. They are concentrating on reliability and cost reduction. I think you will see some very good things over the next few years.

The 700 and 900 were entirely different engines. Different blocks, heads etc.
They scrapped those engine designs (along with the people that pushed it to begin with).
They refocused there R+D to reliability, and weight. Thus the small block 6,7 and 8.
I am going to be getting a couple new polarises this next season. Havent decided if it will be a 700 or 800 yet (depends on funds at the time of purchase).

They weren't very popular because of the weight and the engine vibration. They also had a tendancy to cook belts.
None of the mountain riders I talked to were real happy with the whole front radiator or the adjustable handle bars.

My uncle has a 2005 900 and he took out the radiator and put in the vent kits and he hasn't had any problem. as for the adjustable handle bars he just leave them at the 7 posion.

the best lookin sled polaris has is the 600RR, if it only had a bigger motor and a long track I'd ride it
the best 3 sleds out there for 06/07 is the new ski doo rev the new yamaha apex and yamaha vector

Polaris isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
They took a beating in 05/06 because they put out garbage. They have since taken care of the problems and have put out top notch products. Polaris still has a large market share for sleds (a lot larger than Yamaha).
Now if they have a couple more lousy winters you might see a merger of a couple companies, but you will not see polaris drop sleds.
yamahanytro, you should stop ditch banging and come out west and learn to ride. Maybe you will get a new attitude.

oh my. a couple trips a year. I'm impressed.
I only go every weekend from oct to june. But you obviously know more than I do.
I bet your are a real pro.
Doo is doing the same mistake that polaris did. They have too many models. They are trying to dominate the market. They will succeed for a couple years then they will do something dumb (just like polaris did) and it will come crashing down. Doo has had problems with their 800R motor. The new chassis is unproven. They are reaching too far too fast. Look how long it took them to repair the problem with their rings in 02-04. Their customer service has gone down hill fast and has driven a lot of people away. Not trying to bash, it is the truth.
As for yamaha, if they can get their weight down they will become a major power in the west. As of now, the sleds are still heavy. The new nytro is going to go a long way to helping them build a customer base. It is still a good 70-100 lbs heavier than a compairable 2 stroke. That in of itself will drive a lot of riders away. The huge advantage with yamaha is the ability to put a turbo or supercharger on it and have a good reliable ride with gobs of power. Too bad it costs so much to do.
Now if yamaha would do like polaris and cat and put a turbo on their 2 cylinder 4 stroke and pump it to 140hp then put that in a 500lbs (dry) sled. They would pick up a huge amount of the western market. Till then, they will need to drop some serious weight.

the thing that yamaha realises is its more about realiability then straight up horesepower.
in a couple years yamahas 4 strokes will be as light as the 2 s but will have more horespower.
everyone will buy them
i cant wait for yamaha to take un the aftermarket, featuring smaller cc sleds to cut weight but, also combining things like superchargers and turbos to match the horespower of the 2 strokes.
car companines are starting to experiment with turbos on stock vehicles for a price. with warranty soon so will sled companys.
im a die hard 2 stroke fan but they are a thing of the past, just like the dirtbike scene (dont see to many 2 strokes rippen around anymore)
if you want the ultimate hot rod, buy a 2 stroke. but if you want a sled that will perform flawlesly all day everyday from oct to june (like swollie says) its goin to have to be a 4 stroke
terrace I LIKE BIG DUMPS myles

I was all set to buy a 4 stroke. Polaris has their 4 stroke turbo sled. 140hp. Same size as Yamahas 2 cylinder 4 stroke. The only difference is polaris has the turbo and hasn't figured out how to put together the 4 stroke with the IQ chassis. If they had, I would have bought 2 (the wife rides better than most of the guys).
I am going to be checking out the nytro mtx. It is 70lbs heavier than the 700 RMK I am look at, however, given the price of new sleds (9-10k) it might be worth the extra weight to get the yamaha and just start buying lightweight parts a little at a time. I figure i could shave 30-35 lbs for under a grand without changing the pipe out. I really like the sound of the yammies.
I put on around 1500 miles a year (all in the mountains), so a 2 stroke sled only lasts a 3-4 years before you have to start looking at major rebuild on the motor and such. When you figure that I could get 8+ years out of the yammy it starts looking real good price wise. The sled I ride now weighs 512 dry, the nytro weighs 555 dry. I can get the nytro pretty close to what I have now. Extra 1500 up front cost plus a grand for lightweight parts times 2 sleds.
I don't know yet. I want to ride one and see what I think.

polaris ROCKS, if u came up here its the ski-doos that suck, u spend most of the time getting them unstuck, and yamahas r good for climbing untill they get stuck there so heave it takes five people to move them
