i go out west every winter u tool and polaris still sucks for mountan rideing its ski-doo or yamaha

polaris ROCKS, if u came up here its the ski-doos that suck, u spend most of the time getting them unstuck, and yamahas r good for climbing untill they get stuck there so heave it takes five people to move them

then u havent seen or been on a new yamaha its fast it will beat  a moded polairs  even when its not moded and it never gets stuck i took my 1000 apex up to bc and went like 10 hrs and never got stuck once

i rode the nytro mtx, i wanted one so bad and there was a demo floatin around town, so i went up with the guys,
first impression.
chasis is solid and looks sick, combinin function with strength, the runin boards made me horny, rider forward design and yamaha blue graphics.
test ride.
chasis feels stable on the trail and encouraged you to test the 4stroke power. chasis goes from stable to nimble with a lean of the body, perfect for a boondocking
ultimatly i was extremly impressed, but
the power is just not there.(wont keep up to the big 800s) defintly needs some mods like a exhaust or cam to bring the hp up to around 150.
im in the same boat dont know what to buy, almost need to wait a couple of years.

Aside from some of the less informed comments here, that is exactlly correct.
Over the next 3-5 years this whole sport will be transformed.
Ski-doo is putting out motors that burn as clean as a 4 stroke (to bad I hate their ergos). The new chassis is untested and I am not into being a test rider for a company. I hope it works out, it will do wonders for the weight of all the makers if it pans out. I am a little concerned about the uni-body style of sled. As with cars, it works great. Right up to the point where  you put a twist on it or put some serious power into it. Then the whole frame twists. We'll see.

Yamaha is pushing 4 stroke big time and getting more and more acceptance for them from the 2 stroke guys. They just need to get the weight down. That and offer a factory turbo.

Cat is at a transition point. They need to put some serious R+D into their sleds. The M8 only makes 140hp?!?. that motor could put out 150-155 easy.

Polaris is getting more and more into their 4 stroke, their turbo is awsome, no lag at all, feels like a 2 stroke. Their chassis is the best in the market for all around riding (on and off trail). They have thier reliability issues solved and are on track to put out some rock solid sleds. That is what made them king the first time and it is nice to see them going back to their roots.

The Nytro is a nice sled, but it is only 130hp and it is still 60-100lbs heavier than a compairable 2 stroke. Until yamaha can get the weight down and the power up, they won't be widely accepted by the western riders.

I don't know, I rode a phazer and it ripped. Of cource it was a stretched 140hp turboed one.
The apex is just too long for the type of tight tree running I like.

Actaully it is 12-18 inches longer than my 01 800 rmk with a much wider turning radius.
Not bashing, just facts.
If there is enough room to carve the length and turning radius pretty much don't matter, however, a lot of the stuff I go thru in my search for untouched powder is done at a crawl.

ski-doos dont get stuck it is the rider that gets them stuck. if they have a good rider they wont get stuck. trust me i know

If your not getting stuck, you need to get off the trail.
I don't care what you ride or how you ride, you will get stuck.
I have helped pull out every sled brand on the market.
Skidoo get stuck just as often as every other brand.

no kidding!! I get stuck once in a while, and it's not exactly the sleds fault..it's my fault for making a mistake...it happens...if there's people on here that have never been stuck...stop the fuckin lying it's all bullshit..unless al you ride is trails.
