I think the new polaris' are a huge step in the right direction, they look awesome, they have the most powerful 700 on the market, and they brought back the 800!!!!

dont want to burst your bubble, but my buddy just blow his 700 dragon up. this isnt the first problem that hes had with it and it has like 500 miles on it.

i also herd that the block is warped on the 600s causin the base gasket to leak after a couple hard rides.
leaky gaskets = to much air = leaned out or blown up sled.

hopefully they get there shit straight with the 800 but if its anything like there 900 i wouldnt touch it.

I have a feeling that's the problem with a lot of people, they dont know about breaking stuff in and they just go and ride hard, then they complain that it's polaris' fault, you can blow up anything when you dont break it in..

what ever man im a mechanic dont tell me about breakin stuff in.

if they were really good like the doos they would have the timing retarded for the first 10 hours. so you cant fuck it up while breakin it in
a programed breakin period wheres polaris on that.

im not big on polaris i ride ski-doo, but why should any brand have to program a breakin period on there sleds? people should be smarter the the sled there rideing and know how to break it in. which sounds like ur friend needs to learn how to do if hes haveing all these problems at 500miles or so hes probly not breaking the sled in properly. i know a lot of people who ride polaris and they have never hand any problems with them becausee they were properly broken in.

have any of you actually looked inside a 2 stroke engine?  these things are made to blow up!  its like a top fuel funny car , yah it has 7000 hp, but it gets rebuilt every 1/4 mile pass,  sleds are no different, you look at the power and rpm these things are turning, its surprising that they last more than a day, think about it less than 1 litre dispacement making 150 hp,  apply that to any other type of engine and see how long it lasts,  and for most of us stock isn`t good enough so tack another 25 - 100 hp on to that, for a thin cast aluminum block,  i`ve got a old 440 single carb, single pipe panther my kids ride, my great great grandchildren will probably ride that sled, its gutless and slow , but it does what is expected to do,  if you want performance and longevity, spend the money now, buy a professionaly built high performance engine designed to withstand the pressures, because there isn`t a factory block out there that will take the abuse for any length of time,
WHEN IN DOUBT......PIN IT!!!!!!!

good choice....in my opinion, one of the best sleds in the 08 polaris lineup is the rmk shift....it's insanely cheap for a sled of that caliber...and plus...the plain black is killer...seeing as lots of people rip of the stock decals and opt for custom ones.

i like the rmk shift but im not a fan of polaris....but thats just my opinion.....i find that they dont last and since they put out that 900 that was always broken down i never trusted polaris again....

I like the 08 700HO Dragon Switchback. I test drove a 07 dragon 700 demo last season and was impressed. Sold my mountain cat and will be gettin' one very soon!

Good like Doo?
Oh,  you mean exploding clutches, cracked chassis and other stuff like that??
I have a 07 dragon. I have never even heard of anyone having a blown motor on any of them.
As for the timing, I guess polaris riders are just smart enough to figure it out.
The main problem with any sled regardless of who makes it is the back yard mechanics that change stuff without knowing what they are doing.
If you can't be good at what you enjoy, learn to enjoy being bad at
it.
