Check your electrical system. It could be your stator plate or ignition coil.

what does it do when it dies??  does it sputter at all, or does it just shut off?  does it fire right up after it dies ? or do you have to choke it or play with the throttle,  what do your plugs look like, white? tan? black ? does it die at all different throttle positions, or just at a certain rpm?
WHEN IN DOUBT......PIN IT!!!!!!!

i am riding the sled somewhere in the powerband and then it dies, it dosent even sputter at all, it just shuts off. it fires up about five minutes after it dies and it acts like it is flooded, sometimes it backfires. to start it after it dies i use no choke and hold the throttle half to wide open. the plugs are a tan color and they are both the same color but they look a little wet after the sled dies. the sled dies at lower throttle positions

my guess is the stator, my ol yamaha had the same type of symptoms. If you know someone with the same sled switch stators, then you'll know for sure.

i thought it sounded like a stickyfloat bowl but, i have a feeling you have a bad wire somewhere.
check all of your wire harnesses, especially the ones around the muffler and motor. anything that looks burnt or corrided should be looked at in depth.
sometimes theres a harness that runs right down under the motor, and if one of these wires has rubed threw, the sled will run fine until you hit the right bump and it grounds out.

i had the same problem on my yamaha, and couldnt find it for a month , some rides would be fine others the motor would just die, i finallty found it one night when it died on the mtn, it just happened to be dark enough that i could see a samll  spark underneath the motor. and once i lifted the wire up off the piece of metal it had rubed threw on it fired right up.

make sure you investigate these wires like a csi agent, because if you think there all good your next best bet is a 600 dollar stator

it ended up being the the secondary coil that was bad, in order to fix this problem the cdi and the secondary coil had to both be replaced because they are one unit. the left cylinder would spark interminiantly indicating that one half of the coil is bad. thanks for the help!
