I've got a 02 800 Mountain cat that just seems like a dog.  I think I have the suspension set up about perfect, but can't seem to get the full power out of the engine.  It is the carb'd model, and I have played around with them and now have in what the dealer recommends for MN...  Our 96 ZRT seems to have SO much more power for some reason though... Any Idea's?!?

Compression is great, we just had it completely rebuilt last year before we took it out west.

Well I have a 1996 ZRT 600 and I tell you they are not slow when they are running right. My buddy has a 2002 ZR 800 Cross Country carbed with a D&D twin Pipe kit, D&D clutch kit, and V force reeds and our sleds are side by side he can’t pull away from me and I can’t pull away from him. The only difference is once we get going about 50mph and we both pin it mine does pull away just a little bit. We are about the same off the line to. The only things I have done to my sled under the hood performance wise is some Clutching, Jetting, and Wiseco pistons that is really all I have done under the hood. I am also running a 2002 ZR 800cc rear suspension and 1.25" lug track. Your mountain cat 800 will not be as fast top end as the ZR 800 because you have more weight with the longer suspension, tunnel, and track. The track should also have a big lug to so that’s a lot of air resistance when the track is spinning. The one thing you can try is cleaning out your power valves if they are dirty that will make a big mid range and top end difference. But if both your ZRT and your mountain cat are running right the ZRT will have more mid range and maybe a little more top end. If you have a 800 ZRT then just forget about even trying to make your 800 mountain cat as fast, it just won’t happen with out a lot of work. Those twins just don’t have the mid range and top end that the triples do.

How many miles are on it? 02? probaly due for a rebuild, when is the last time the carbs were taken apart and cleaned?,  Don`t ever expect a cat twin to pull like a cat triple, it`s not going to happen without a turbo!
WHEN IN DOUBT......PIN IT!!!!!!!
