This is for all of you dude and dudettes up here in the great state of New York. I just heard that Gov. Patacki just passed a new law for 06' that reduces the speed limit on public trails to 55mph. I know that a lot of you out there like to run a little bit faster than that, so please leave your toughts and some more info.

That is how it has been in minnesota for a long time. They speed limit is 55mph everywhere including ditches and lakes. I have yet to see anyone pulled over for it but the cops aren't too tough on that around here and i never ride trails so i don't see DNR cuz that is where they are. I ride ditches alot and they don't pull us over for going more than 55 though. And if they try to pull us over for jumping approaches we run.

I wish we had a 55mph speed limit on our trails.. Our speed limit in canada ontario is 50 km/h. That is slow, no one really goes that slow anyways but it still sucks...

The trails in the area that I ride are just 2 sled trails. I love to go fast just like all of u. I do it at the racetrack. People have abused there right and some thing has to be done to keep the spot safe for anyone that rides. I have been run of the trails by people that think that there are snow cross racing. I will say that the people that are ride to fast on the trail are responsible for this new law and can only blame them self. This is my 2cents

The speed limit in Minnesota is either 50 or 55. Makes no differance though. I run ditches anyways. Our trails suck in central Minnesota anyways.

Im a MN rider and iv been pulled over 3 times for speeding, all of which were on lakes. I have never gotten a ticket for it but for sure you need to be a little weary on lakes, the DNR is out there and they will stop you, But that was when i was riding my 380, now that iv got the 440 iv learned it is quite easy to out run those sissys, just takes balls so if they try to get ya, just giver a little mustard...

I live in Upstate New York and having a speed limit sucks. I never follow it anyways unless im riding the trails that you cant do 55. A lot of people around here are older and dont mind the speed limit but im 17 and my buddies and i like to ride as fast as possible. The law arent out on their sleds as much anymore so its not really a big deal unless you come to a check point and they get you for no inusrance or registration.

theres no point in stopping for cops, they'll never catch you, they're machines are either not fast enough or they suck at riding

yea, i dont think we have any, i wouldnt follow them anyways, we dont have registration or insurance, so i just run, i dont think the cops in alberta even have sleds anyways, the only place for me to get caught is on the highway, but even if they do have sleds, they're not smart enough to have decent sleds

We have self imposed speed limits.
You can't drive too fast or you smack a tree. The trail (the rare occasion we use them) is pretty twisty down thru the trees. Hard to go over 55mph.
If you can't be good at what you enjoy, learn to enjoy being bad at
it.

I live in mn cops caught me last year doing 125mph on the lake.  They had cop radarin and two other catch me.  Almost got a ticket, but i told them there was a kink in the throttle cable, then they asked  why i didnt hit the kill switch i looked @ them and said what kill switch so the cop told me to park it and go get a new cable.  I had to go buy a new throttle cable just to get out of a ticket.  hellof alot cheaper
Where's the damn snow
