My Blog: Wednesday, April 25, 2007
How fortunate are we? we happen to live close to some of the best mountains in the world and have access to incredible backcountry that was mostly inaccessible a decade ago. Thanks to early pioneers that were bored with the resorts, and thanks to new technology in mountain sleds, they started heading over the other side of the highway into unknown territory and opened up a vast area for us.
I was so bored with snowboarding and tired of the lineups and tracked out resorts that this backcountry discovery happened just in time. Also I think I'm lucky to have met so many others who are obsessed with sledding as I am and are able to go out there with them and explore our backyard.
It's too bad the majority of people will never experience this or have any idea this is going on. Unlike snowboardin, which we knew would eventually explode and become a household word, backcountry sledding will never do the same but it's just as well. It keeps it core and a little mysterious.
That's all I wanted to say. If you see a truck hauling sleds, give a wave just like the early boarders did back in the day.

I'm doing a catalog for HJC snowmobile helmets and we need some action shots .... really like what I've seen here, please contact me with details on what you'd need for us to include your photos.
Thanx

sledding in whistler is basically on hold for the next two weeks minimum. if things don't pick up soon we'll be heading up to revy.

hi there how is the sledding where you are at it is great here in Revelstoke we have a 10 foot base at the cabin on Boulder mountain and it is snowing lightly right now so there will be more up on the top of our hills. If anyone one is comming out this way my sister and i own two log cabins where you just unload your trucks or trailers and sled right from your room. I hope to see some of you here in town this winter. You can e-mail me at kissable_devil@hotmail.com if you want to know a price
Thanks Lisa and Karen

if anyone is interested in a rack for carrying your snowboard, I'm building one for my Rev. I've designed it so you can use existing bolts and don't need to drill into your tunnel or anywhere else. If anyone has built one themselves, give me some feedback. I'll post some photos of the finished product soon.
